ApiBikes.com/Specialized/Metrow Foods rider Duncan Alexander took the British Universities Sports Association 25 mile title on Saturday, in the Oxford University Cycling Club promotion. Alexander, riding for Oxford's arch-rivals Cambridge University, also led Cambridge team-mates Tristan Davenne and Rob Driver to the BUSA team title. Cambridge also won the traditional Varsity Match between Oxford and Cambridge, with both Cambridge 'A' and 'B' teams beating the first Oxford team.
The APi rider adds the 25 to the BUSA 10 title he won last month. Alexander had come close to winning the 25 title on several occasions, but this was his first victory in his last year as a student, and becomes the first Cambridge rider in several years to win the event - even ex-Cambridge rider Mike Hutchinson never managed to win the 25 title during his time as a student.
