Zak Carr broke Ray Hughes unoffical Medium Gear 25 record on Sunday, in the Harp RC event on the F1. Carr, who rides for APiBikes.com/Specialized/Metrow Foods, spun an amazing 132 rpm on a 72" gear, to record 53:23, beating Hughes old mark of 55:03. Carr's team-mate and tandem partner Glenn Taylor was second in 56:21, with Tim Bayley (timetrial.co.uk) third in 59:58. In the accompanying unrestricted event, only one rider managed to beat Carr's time, with Craig Simpson (Blue Sky Cycles) winning in 51:25.
Team manager Andy Palmer had won the Beacontree Wheelers 10 the previous day in a tight finish on the E91/10 course in Essex, recording 22:29 to beat Kevin Gill (Elite CC) by a single second.
